I TO: THE CATHOLIC EXPONENT FROM: WALSH COLLEGE - CANTON, OHIO RAYMOND RUFO, DIRECTOR, PUBLIC RELATIONS 499-7090 FOR RELEAS : AT WILL TUESDAY, JANUARY 3," 1967 WALSH COMPLE'l'ES FIRST HALF OF SEASON WITH A 1 - 11 RECORD Canton - The Walsh College Cavaliers have taken their lumps from the first half or the 1966-67 basketball schedule. The first half of the schedule was completed last week with a double loss in the Baldwin-Wallace Invitational Tour-nament in Berea, Ohio. The defeats at the hands of Ohio Northern, 102-88, and Edinboro State, 87-66, give Walsh a 1 - 11 record for the season. Although Walsh has improved from the b'ginning of the year, the second half of the schedule will prove to be no easier. As Walsh improves, so do their opponents, and the wins will certainly be slow in coming. Coach Ken Gold, in his first year at the helm of the Cavaliers and as the first full-time coach, says, " I do not fe el that we will win more than two ball games in the remaining 13 on the schedule." He goes on to say, "One may wonder how a coach could be pleased with a ball club that has won only one ball game; however, I am happy with my squad.
